L. William “Bill” Vasaly, III Executive Vice President/Chief Credit Officer
Bill Vasaly is Executive Vice President/Chief Credit Officer for Bank of Oak Ridge headquartered in Oak Ridge, NC with locations in Oak Ridge, Summerfield and Greensboro, NC. With 40 years of banking industry experience, Mr. Vasaly has held diverse senior management positions with community banks, regional banks and national banks, including Bank of Oak Ridge, CCB Salem Group (now SunTrust) and Wachovia Corporation (now Wells Fargo Corporation).
With Bank of Oak Ridge since its’ founding in April 2000, Mr. Vasaly first served as Senior Vice President with responsibilities for commercial and retail lending. At various times he has been responsible for the retail banking and mortgage origination departments. He currently oversees all direct lending functions and commercial loan production and is part of the Bank’s senior management team.
Immediately prior to joining Bank of Oak Ridge, Mr. Vasaly was First Vice President and Relationship Manager with the CCB Salem Group where he worked in the Professional Banking Group from 1991 through March 2000. He was with Wachovia from 1976 to 1991 and held a variety of management and production positions in corporate and retail banking as well as in credit administration and branch management.
Mr. Vasaly earned his B.S. degree in marketing management from Virginia Tech University. Mr. Vasaly serves on the Board of Directors of the Triad Chapter of the Risk Management Association and recently served as its President. In addition, he is a former Chairman of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Northwest North Carolina and a former President of the Twin City Kiwanis Club in Winston-Salem, NC.
His personal interests include golf, fishing, target shooting and travel, and he is an avid reader. He and his wife have five children and three sons-in-law between them. They have eight grandchildren, seemingly coming in waves as they have twice welcomed three of them into their growing family within a 12 month period.
