Ronald “Ron” Black has more than 40 years of banking industry experience. He is an organizer and founder of Bank of Oak Ridge and has served as its President and Chief Executive Officer since its opening in April 2000. He is also President and Chief Executive Officer of the parent company, Oak Ridge Financial Services, Inc. since its inception in 2006. He serves as member of the Board of Directors of both companies which are headquartered in Oak Ridge, NC with banking center locations in Oak Ridge, Summerfield and Greensboro, North Carolina.

Previously, Mr. Black was employed by Wachovia Bank, a subsidiary of Wachovia Corporation in Winston-Salem, NC, for over 27 years. At the time of his departure from Wachovia, he was serving as Vice President and Relationship Manager within the Financial Institutions Group, Global Services Division providing domestic and international banking services to community and mid-size financial institutions throughout the southeastern United States.

Mr. Black received his B.S. degree in business administration from Western Carolina University and his M.A. degree in Business and Economics from Appalachian State University. He is also a graduate of the North Carolina Bank Directors’ College.

Currently, Mr. Black is the Immediate Past Chairman of the North Carolina Bankers Association Board of Directors and of the Community Bank Services Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Community Investment Corporation of the Carolinas Board of Directors and the North Carolina Prevention Partners Board of Directors. He serves on Governor McCrory’s Financial Literacy Council, the Advisory Board for the Guilford Education Alliance and he is also a member of the (American Heart Association) Heart Ball Executive Leadership team.

Mr. Black was the founding President of the Oak Ridge Merchants Association and has previously served the community as a member of the Boards of Directors for the Salvation Army of Greensboro and Camp Challenge–a summer camp for low-resource, high-achieving middle school students. He is a former member of Civitan International and Lions International chapters located in Oak Ridge. He has served on the Governmental Affairs Committee for the City of Greensboro. He is a past member of the Winston-Salem Jaycees, serving in a variety of leadership positions, past President of Willow Run Swim Club, past Chairman and past Vice Chairman of the North Carolina Bankers Association Board of Directors as well as the Community Bank Services Board of Directors.

He is an active member of Home Moravian Church in Old Salem. He enjoys playing golf and traveling with his beloved family, which has grown recently with the welcoming of his first grandson.
